Antonio Mattei Biscotti

Known as the first to develop the recipe for almond biscotti or “Cantucci”, Antonio Mattei's prize recipe continues a Tuscan confectionary tradition to this day. Mattei Biscotti are a perfect compliment to Vin Santo or coffee at meal's end. All of Mattei’s products are still baked fresh from simple ingredients, in the same location since its foundation in 1904. The dough is hand-shaped, and after baking in the oven, the loaves, still hot, are sliced, giving shape to the fragrant biscotti. They are always packed in the iconic blue bag, and tied by hand with colored string.
